What we collect, why, and what we never do with your projects.

Last updated September 24, 2026

This policy explains what Bimiq collects, why, and what we do and do not do with it. The short version: your projects are yours, the AI only receives what a request needs, and none of your project content is ever used to train a public AI model.

01Who we are

Bimiq is an agentic BIM platform for architecture. It takes a building project from a brief through research, design, a BIM model, drawings and presentation, with an AI agent that can work on the project. This policy covers the Bimiq website at getbimiq.com and the Bimiq web application.

For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights below, contact us at privacy@getbimiq.com.

02What we collect

We collect three kinds of information.

Account data
Your name, email address, organization and role, and the identifier from your sign-in method. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your basic profile from them, not your password.
Project content
What you put into a project and what Bimiq produces from it: briefs, sites and locations, files you attach, research sources, requirements and decisions, the building model, drawings, sheets, comments, and the requests you give the agent with their results.
Usage data
How the product is used: pages visited, features used, credits consumed, and basic device and browser information. We use this to run the service, bill fairly for agent work and, if you allow analytics, to improve the product.

We do not ask for special-category personal data, and building projects are not the place for it. Please do not upload documents whose purpose is to hold personal data unrelated to the project.

03How we use your information

  • To run the service: store your projects, carry out the agent tasks you request, and produce designs, models, drawings and answers.
  • To manage your account, organization, roles and project sharing, and to authenticate you.
  • To meter and bill agent work, and to take payment.
  • To send service messages you need, such as sign-in links, billing notices, security notifications and replies to your enquiries.
  • To keep the service secure, fix problems and, with your consent, understand which features are used.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your project content for advertising.

04AI processing, and what we never train on

The Bimiq agent runs on a commercial AI provider through its API. When you give the agent a task, the request and the project information it needs are sent to the provider only to produce that result. Manual editing, navigation and standard model operations do not involve the AI provider.

Your project content is never used to train a public AI model. Neither we nor our AI provider train public models on your briefs, files, models or drawings. Your content is used to serve you, not to build a model other firms then benefit from.

05Documents and sources you add

When you add a document or a public source to a project, Bimiq reads its text so requirements can point to the passage they come from. To make your sources searchable, Bimiq may build a search index of that text, kept with your project.

Public sources are fetched from their official sites only when you ask for them. You are responsible for having the right to add the documents you upload.

06Who we share it with

Inside Bimiq, a project is visible to the people you share it with, at the access level you choose. Outside Bimiq, we share information only with the service providers that make the service work, and only so they can perform their function for us. Each is bound to protect it.

Hosting and database
Cloud infrastructure that runs the application and stores your account and project records.
File storage
Private, encrypted object storage for the files you attach.
AI provider
The commercial model provider that performs agent tasks, via its API.
Payments
Our billing provider, which processes subscriptions and takes payment. We do not store full card details.
Email
The provider that delivers sign-in links and service messages.
Product analytics
A provider that helps us understand product usage, used only if you accept analytics cookies.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of Bimiq, our users and the public. If Bimiq is involved in a merger or acquisition, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

07Where your data is stored, and how it is protected

Your data is processed and stored by the providers above, which may be located in countries other than yours. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards for that transfer.

Project data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and is scoped to your project and your organization. Every change is checked against the project's access rules. More detail is on our security page.

08How long we keep it

We keep your account and project data for as long as your account is active, so your history stays available to you. Superseded decisions and earlier revisions are kept in the project history rather than deleted, because the record of what changed is the point of keeping it.

When you delete a project or close your account, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep some records to meet a legal, tax or accounting obligation.

09Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable form.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@getbimiq.com. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and one analytics cookie only if you accept it in the cookie banner. The detail, and how to change your choice, is in our Cookie Policy.

11Children

Bimiq is a tool for architecture and building professionals, and for students of those subjects. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and the law change. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you in the product or by email. Continuing to use Bimiq after a change means you accept the updated policy.

13Contact us

Questions about this policy, or about your data, go to privacy@getbimiq.com. For anything else, the contact page has the right route.
